5 Things That SEOs Need To Stop Worry About
Every SEOs knew that every day awaits new battles, battle against competitors, rolled out new algorithm, and the changes in audiences' behavior. It is not easy to keep focus on winning the search audiences. What we can always do is to stop worrying about things that wasted our time. Here are five things that SEOs need to stop worrying from now on.
1. Ranking on Specific Keyword
It is always rewarding to have your content ranked for the keyword you wanted. But too much focus on keyword ranking is not healthy for your SEO campaign. There are many other important metrics in SEO that you need to measure. Not to mention that sometimes, ranking on keywords didn't give value to your business. For example, if you are ranking on keywords that have a low volume on search.
Shift your focus to metrics like search impressions and clicks, organic visits, user engagement, and conversion rates.

2. Google Algorithm Updates
Google is notoriously known for rolling out many algorithm updates throughout the year. Moz even published a page of Google algorithm update history from 2000-present. The page also said each year; Google makes hundreds of changes to search. In 2018, they reported an incredible 3,234 updates — an average of almost 9 per day, and more than eight times the number of updates in 2009. Some SEOs even use this algorithm update as an excuse for the drop in their performance.
Within the SEO community itself, there are many jokes around this news on Google Algorithm update. Dr. Pete Mayers, a marketing scientist at Moz, tweeted:
The truth is that Google algorithms are always updated from time to time, and we shouldn't worry too much about it. On one of their blog posts, Google shared that their updates always rolled out to improve their user experiences. If there's nothing wrong with our website's technical performance, we should focus on how our content answers the audience's search queries.
3. Negative SEO
Negative SEO is always a hot topic to discuss amongst SEOs. There are more than 81 million pages on Google search results on negative SEO. And even though it sounds legit to worry about your competitors hurting your website performances, spending too much time on this is a waste of time.
Backlinks from spammy websites or low-quality websites, for example, it is unlikely that become the primary reason for any drop in performance on your website.

4. Link Acquisitions
We are not trying to dismiss the value of backlinks for your website SEO performances. However, there are cases where SEOs worried too much on backlinks that make them decided to acquire as many backlinks as possible.
Link building is about creating a relationship and delivering value for your audiences. Search engines like Google are looking for genuine links as a form of recommendation. What you should focus on as a website owner is to continue improving your website performance and publishing content that is valuable for your audiences.
5. The Word Count on Your Content
When developing content for your websites, your focus should be on the value of the content for your audiences, and how it can become answers for the audience search intention. There is a lot of research out there that shows a considerable correlation between word count and ranking. It only happens when the content delivers value and relevance to the audience.
