A crawler-by-crawler comparison

Agent View fetches the page as each crawler in turn and reports the HTTP status it gets back. A 403 means a firewall or CDN is turning that assistant away outright, even when robots.txt says it is welcome, and the report flags that conflict rather than averaging it away.

What does Agent View actually measure?+
The share of the words a person sees on a page that also appear in the raw HTML a non-rendering crawler receives. AI assistants read that raw HTML, not your rendered page, so anything only JavaScript paints is content they cannot quote. A fully server-rendered page scores near the top; a page whose body is assembled in the browser scores low.
Is it free, and does it need an account?+
Free, with no account and no setup. Install it, click the icon on any page, and the check runs. There is no paid tier and no trial.
Does Agent View send my pages to Search Agency?+
No. There is no server behind the extension, no analytics inside it, and no account system. The page, its raw HTML, and its robots.txt and llms.txt are read and compared entirely in your browser. The one time anything leaves is if you click through to our audit page yourself — see section 12 of our privacy policy for exactly what that link carries.
How does it emulate GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and the others?+
It re-fetches the same page with each crawler's user-agent string and no cookies, then reports the HTTP status and readability score each one gets back. That is how a 403 shows up: the page loads perfectly for you while a firewall or CDN turns that assistant away.
My robots.txt allows AI bots but Agent View says the server blocks them. Which is right?+
Both, and that is the point. robots.txt is a request; a 403 from your CDN or WAF is an enforcement. When the two disagree the live response wins, and the crawler is not reading your page no matter what robots.txt permits. Agent View flags the conflict rather than reporting only the friendlier of the two.
Can I use it on a competitor's site?+
Yes. It only needs the public page, so it works on any URL you can open, which makes it a quick way to see whether a competitor is more readable to assistants than you are.
